2021 Writers Workshop offerings

Let those stories you've got inside you out! My writers workshops are just what you need to keep writing, learning the tips and tricks to make your prose explode, and being part of a dynamic community. Hundreds of writers have successfully written their first short stories, poems and novels, and in some of our workshops, your work will even be published. You may register for as many workshops as you wish, but do it now as spaces are limited.

Meet Your Instructors

Picture
David Hamilton is the founder of the Ottawa Writing Workshops and has been teaching and coaching new writers for years. He's also a working writer, so he understands exactly what it takes to bring a story idea to life. Outside of his writing, David enjoys long-distance cycling, ham radio, reading, and painting.

Julia Lye is a graduate of the English Literature program at Carleton University, has participated in several of our workshops, and is the author of many short stories. Her most recent novel is "Anelisha Knight in The Yarns of Gods". Julia has been teaching with the Ottawa Writing Workshops since 2019. Her interest in writing fiction began one March Break, long ago, when her sister suggested they each write a story to fill their boredom. Since then, she has never stopped writing, except to binge-watch TV shows and get creative with Dungeons and Dragons.
